FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between 18k gold and solid gold?

While solid gold is the ultimate in luxury, 18k gold vermeil offers a smart, high-quality alternative. Vermeil features a thick layer of real 18k gold over sterling silver, giving you the same rich look and feel of solid gold- without the hefty price tag. It is more durable than standard gold plating and designed to last.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days. Shipping times depends on your location, public holiday delays and rural deliveries all affect timeframes. We usually expect 1-3 days and an additional 2 days for rural deliveries.

What is gold vermeil, exactly?

Gold vermeil is a thick layer of real gold (at least 2.5 microns — ours is 18k) bonded over solid sterling silver, so both metals are precious. That's what separates it from ordinary gold plating over brass or steel. We've written a full guide: What is gold vermeil?

Can I shower and swim in my jewellery?

Everyday water is fine — showering, washing your hands, getting caught in the rain. The things to avoid are pool chlorine and spa water, and it's worth a fresh-water rinse after the sea. Full details in Is gold vermeil waterproof?

Will my jewellery tarnish or turn my skin green?

Green skin comes from base metals like brass and copper — vermeil doesn't put those against your skin. Gold itself doesn't tarnish; if a piece ever dulls, it's usually surface build-up that wipes off with a soft cloth. More in Does gold vermeil tarnish? and Why do earrings turn ears green?

Is your jewellery hypoallergenic?

Yes — gold and sterling silver are both kind to sensitive skin, and we don't use nickel or brass against the skin. If your ears react to most earrings, our range is made for you: our guide to hypoallergenic earrings explains why.

How do I look after my jewellery?

Put jewellery on after perfume and skincare, store it somewhere dry (not the bathroom), and give it an occasional wipe with a soft cloth. Never use toothpaste or silver dip on vermeil. The full routine: how to clean it and how to stop tarnish before it starts.

How do I find my ring size?

You can measure at home in a couple of minutes with a strip of paper or an existing ring — our NZ ring size guide walks you through it, with the full size chart.
